UK Hazardous Property Codes (HP Codes)
A hazardous property code records why a waste is hazardous — what it will do to people or the environment. Codes run from HP 1 to HP 15, plus HP POP for waste containing regulated persistent organic pollutants above their legal limits. HP codes appear on hazardous waste consignment notes and must be supplied when a hazardous movement is filed to DEFRA.
All 16 codes below come from DEFRA’s own digital waste tracking reference data, last checked 25 July 2026. This is the same list WTNcloud validates against when it files a movement, so what you see here is what the service accepts.

Filing these codes for real from October 2026?
WTNcloud validates every code against DEFRA’s reference data before a movement is filed, so a rejected submission never reaches your paperwork.
