POP Codes — Persistent Organic Pollutants in Waste
Persistent organic pollutants are chemicals that resist degradation and accumulate in the food chain. Waste containing a regulated POP above the concentration limits in Annex IV of the POPs Regulation is hazardous, and the components present must be declared when the movement is filed. DEFRA expects a code rather than a chemical name — a name sent in the code field is rejected — so these are the codes to use.
