Frequently asked questions

Is this free WTN generator really free?
Yes, completely free. Generate as many WTNs as you need — the only input required is a valid email address and the PDF is sent straight to your inbox. If you regularly produce WTNs, our paid plans start at £8.99/month and include offline use, bulk customer import, and unlimited storage.
Is the generated WTN legally compliant?
Yes. The generated PDF includes the mandatory legal declaration under the Environmental Protection Act 1990 and the Waste (England and Wales) Regulations 2011, along with your EWC code, waste description, transferor and transferee details, and the duty-of-care statement. It is accepted as a valid Waste Transfer Note by the Environment Agency.
Do I need to create an account?
No account is required for the free generator. You only need a valid email address so we can email your finished PDF. We never share your email and you can unsubscribe from any follow-up at any time.
What is an EWC code and how do I find the right one?
EWC (European Waste Catalogue) codes are six-digit codes — like 20 03 01 for mixed municipal waste — that classify every type of waste. Our generator includes a searchable dropdown with all 155 codes. You can browse them by type at wtncloud.co.uk/ewc-codes.
Can I edit the WTN after I download it?
The PDF itself is finalised, but you can generate a new one for free by filling the form again. If you need to maintain a record of several WTNs, edit them, or share them with customers, consider a WTNcloud paid plan.
Does the WTN cover hazardous waste?
The generator covers standard (non-hazardous) waste transfers. Hazardous waste in England and Wales requires a Hazardous Waste Consignment Note (HWCN) rather than a standard WTN, which has additional fields including the consignor's premises code. WTNcloud supports HWCNs on paid plans.
